The ritual

The instruction is
two sentences long.

Turn the overhead light off. Turn this on. Everything else about the session is already decided for you.

Shower With the Lights Off

Summary

How a session actually works: hold to start, tap through 10, 15 and 20 minutes, stand six to twelve inches away, and let it switch itself off. Why the overhead light being off matters, why the beam angle sets the distance, when to wear the eyewear, and how the panel comes off the wall. Usage and specification only — no health claims.

Turn the overhead light off. Turn this on. That is the entire instruction, and it is the part people get wrong most often — they leave the bathroom light blazing and wonder why it feels like nothing changed.

The room is doing half the work. With the main light off, a shower stops being a room you pass through and becomes somewhere you are actually standing still for ten minutes.

The session, start to finish

There is one button on the front left edge and three small dots under it. That is the whole interface.

Four steps
01

Hold to start

02

Tap for 10, 15 or 20

03

Stand 6 to 12 inches away

04

It shuts itself off

Press and hold for three seconds to turn it on. A short press moves through the three session lengths, shown by the dots. You never decide when to stop — the timer ends and the panel switches off on its own.

Where to stand, and why it matters

Six to twelve inches from the skin, with the panel angled towards whatever you are using it on. The bracket pivots, so you aim the light rather than moving the mount.

That distance is not arbitrary. The optics run a 25 to 30 degree beam, which is a fairly tight cone — step back three feet and you are lighting the wall behind you instead.

Wear the eyewear that comes in the box any time you are facing it directly, and do not look into the diodes. If the light is on your back or shoulders you do not need it.

Ten minutes is the point, not a compromise

Ten was not chosen because it is all we could manage. It was chosen because it is the length of a shower most people already take, which means nothing has to move in your day for this to happen.

Fifteen and twenty are there for the evenings you have them. Most people we have watched use it settle on ten during the week and stretch it at the weekend, and that is exactly the behaviour we designed for.

Battery runs up to two hours total, so roughly twelve ten-minute sessions between charges.

It does not have to stay in the shower

The panel lifts straight off its bracket. Stand it on the edge of the bath, put it on a windowsill, take it away for a weekend. It is cordless, so there is nothing to unplug and nothing trailing across a wet floor.

“Turn the light off, turn this on, and the timer runs. That is the whole ritual.”

How to use it, in one sentence
