The SaunaBox® SmartSteam Kit is ready to use in 3 simple steps. Assemble the frame and heat insulated tent, which takes about 10 minutes. Once assembled, pour distilled water into the SmartSteam chamber, and within 15 minutes, steam will flow into the tent. Step inside, sit down, and experience the vast benefits of heat therapy.


The SaunaBox® can heat up internally to 130-140° F with near 100% humidity which may feel subjectively hotter and can elicit greater strains on the cardiovascular system.

Why? Water has a higher heat capacity than air. When you're in a steam sauna, the air is saturated with water vapor which carries more heat energy to your body than dry air would at the same temperature.

This is why the temperature is lower in steam saunas but the humidity can make it just as intense, if not more so, than a dry sauna


The inside of the heat insulated cover is designed with anti-microbial materials to help prevent mold and bacteria build up. A quick dry & machine washable absorbent sweat mat for the floor of the sauna is included in every order. After use, we recommend leaving the door flap open to air out and wiping down the water vapor on the inside walls.

Don't Love it, Don't Hate it

"I'm kind of right in the middle on how I feel about my purchase. I replaced the chair because it wasn't comfortable. The steam gets super hot, which is awesome, but it's a non-stop stream of steam, which can be a little much. I'm used to a steam room where there is steam and then it stops for a minute and starts back up again. For the price it does exactly what it says it does, so no complaints there. Cleaning it after every use is kind of a pain, and you need to make sure you empty the water reservoir every time you use it. Keeping the hoses all hooked up to where they don't leak is another challenge. It's not a flood, but there's a pretty consistent drip no matter how tight I get them on there. Somehow I missed the dry sauna version of this when I bought it, which I think I would prefer."

  • Can I use it indoors & outdoors?

    The SaunaBox® can be used both indoors and outdoors. If you leave it outdoors, we recommend having an appropriate cover such as a canopy, balcony, tarp, etc. The SaunaBox is NOT weatherproof. Leaving the SaunaBox outside for a long period of time will cause exterior cosmetic damage.

  • How much electricity does it use?

    SaunaBox is designed to be both energy-efficient and powerful. Here's a breakdown of the electricity usage during a session: 20 minute session = 0.703 kWh To put it in perspective, the average cost of electricity in the U.S. is about $0.15 per kWh, meaning a 20-minute session costs roughly 10 cents.

  • How long does it take to set up the SaunaBox?

    The sauna takes about 10-15 minutes to set up and 5 minutes to take down. After you do it once, it gets easier to do it quickly - we compare it to setting up a small camping tent - we wouldn't recommend having the intention to set it up and take it down daily as that may be tedious. But, is it worth bringing on a trip for a few days? We'd give that a big "yes". It will come in a box roughly 11in x 11.8in x 40in (for comparison, this is around the size of a golf bag).

  • Is the entire sauna tent machine-washable?

    No, all of the fabric is not machine-washable - it comes with an absorbent mat for the floor that is machine-washable along with a towel designed to wipe down the walls after use.

  • Does it come with a warranty?
